Alexander Matveev and Leonid Malakov, students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, created a system that can be used for rehabilitation after respiratory diseases or for stopping panic attacks. The device allows performing breathing exercises in a playful way. Doctors of the Burdenko Voronezh State Medical University provided consultations especially for the development of students.
“The creators of the system have come a long way from a simple device that operates via wires and only with a personal computer to a compact device that connects via Bluetooth to almost any device. The development of a medical method of rehabilitation and certification of the medical device are still too complicated”, said Alexei Maksimov, senior lecturer of the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
The developers have also added another control channel, an accelerometer. It allows using the movement of hands with the device to control the game. The creators plan to implement the function of training the respiratory muscles and continue developing games for the system. How the system works can be seen here.
