INFRA-M Publishing House (Moscow) has published the monograph “Success, work, and ageing: fundamental, applied, and popular science aspects of professional longevity”. The publication was prepared by researchers from the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.

The monograph edited by Irina Durakova, DSc in Economics, Professor at the Faculty of Economics of VSU, presents the results of research relating to the problem of the “slowdown syndrome” in the labour market. The cause of this issue is the excess of labour power, which for a long time was one of the main drivers of economic growth. The authors also analyse the evolution of the idea of the “silver tsunami”, the realities and myths about the working ability and efficiency of older workers. Also, the scientists consider professional and socio-cultural factors that affect labour efficiency.

The publication also investigates biomedical approaches to preserving the potential efficiency of older workers, their active longevity, and healthy ageing. The authors analyse the functional state of the body during ageing, the risk factors affecting the potential efficiency, preventive programmes for effective promotion of a healthy lifestyle in the workplace and prolongation of active working period, and channels for obtaining health indicator data.

The chapters of the monograph were prepared by Professor Irina Durakova, DSc in Economics, Associate Professor Tatiana Rakhmanova, DSc in Economics, Associate Professor Larisa Matasova, PhD in Biology, Ekaterina Mayer, PhD in Economics, and Ivan Grigorov, postgraduate student from the Department of Human Resource Management.
