On 15 April, an Interregional Programming Contest was held at Vologda State University. Students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences participated in the event. 20 teams of VSU students and cadets from the Russian Air Force Military Educational and Scientific Centre “Air Force Academy” took part in the contest.
Between 22 and 23 April, VSU students took part in the VII Open Student Programming Championship of the South Russia “ContestSFedU-2023” and the XVII Programming Competition of the Southern Federal University (Taganrog). The team from the Faculty of Computer Sciences which consisted of Nikita Berezhnov, Maxim Novotochinov, and Yulia Shishko received a third degree diploma in the Interregional Programming Contest and a third degree diploma in the Programming Competition of the Southern Federal University.
In total, VSU was represented at the Programming Competition of the Southern Federal University by five teams: four teams of students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences and one teams from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics. Only the teams who showed great results in the online qualifying competition among 100 teams from different cities and universities of Russia were invited to take part in this contest.
“During the opening ceremony there were a lot of teams, the hall was full of people. We have already seen some strong teams in other competitions. For example, the teams from Petrozavodsk, Volgograd, and Mordovia. It was interesting to compete with them. The contest itself began early in the morning and lasted five hours. The tasks were not really difficult, we had a lot of ideas, but there were so many tasks that we had to write a lot of code. It’s a pity that we managed to solve some difficult tasks but didn’t have enough time for easier ones,” said Maxim Novotochinov.
