The results of the VIII International youth competition festival of poetry and poetic translations “Shores of Friendship” were announced. Maria Tarasova, a first year student of the Faculty of Philology of VSU, became a finalist of the creative contest. Her translations from the Belarusian and Ingush languages were considered among the best.

Maria passed two rounds of the competition: a remote presentation of the author’s poems in Russian and a poetic translation into her native language using word-for-word translation of poems by another participant. Following the results of a competitive selection, Maria Tarasova was invited to the final stage of the competition festival which will take place in July 2023 in the Rostov Region.

During the final stage, the authors will present their works to a young audience and perform at the competition sites of the festival. Participants will attend profile meetings, workshops in poetry and poetic translations, and round table discussions regarding the development of modern literature.

The “Shores of Friendship” competition is held as part of the national cultures festival of the same name. Its purpose is to strengthen traditions as well as preserve and develop the common cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. The festival is supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the Caucasian Representative Office of the World Artistic Committee.
