6 August was the 99th anniversary of VSU Professor Vladimir Eitingon, PhD in Economics, Honoured Economist of Russia, the first head of the Presidential Programme on Training Managers for Enterprises of the Voronezh Region. He made a great contribution to the development of economic education at Voronezh State University. Vladimir Eitingon created the VSU Business School. He was listed in the encyclopaedia “Best People in Russia”.
The biography of this outstanding scientist and a true patriot is full of impressive achievements and feats. Vladimir Eitingon was born on 6 August 1924 in Moscow in the family of a famous Soviet intelligence officer, Major General of State Security Naum Eitingon. Vladimir Eitingon fought in the Great Patriotic War. In July 1941, he volunteered to fight in WWII and first served in an independent special purpose motorised rifle brigade, and later in radio intelligence. Having completed the school of the National Committee for State Security of the USSR, he served in the state security apparatus.
Starting from 1950, the life of Vladimir Eitingon was connected with Voronezh, and from 1964 with work at Voronezh State University: between 1985 and 1999, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics of VSU, between 1982 and to his last days, the Head of the Department of Labour Economics and Management Fundamentals. Starting from 2010, he was the chair of the Committee for the Economic Development and Innovative Policy of the Public Chamber of the Voronezh Region, and the assistant to the rector of VSU.
Vladimir Eitingon died on 14 April 2014.
Those who knew him, his colleagues, students, and friends cherish the memory of the outstanding economist, lecturer, and mentor. In 2017, bibliographers from the VSU Regional Scientific Library published a bibliography “Vladimir Eitingon”. It contains 576 titles of books and articles reflecting the scientific and pedagogical activities of Vladimir Eitingon (1924–2014).
In April 2018, a commemorative plaque was installed at the Faculty of Economics dedicated to the distinguished citizen of Voronezh, Professor Vladimir Eitingon.
In 2014, the Eitingon Management Platform was founded, a platform for exchanging the best practices and technologies of successful management in the public sector and in various social and economic spheres. In 2023, the Management Platform started on 25 August.
