On 11 August, Tinkoff announced the results of the scholarship programme competition for talented students for the new academic year. 200 students from 29 Russian universities were winners. They were selected from among more than 13,000 participants. Four students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences at VSU now also hold this scholarship:

  • Egor Rogachev, 3rd year student.
  • Konstantin Lugovskoy, 3rd year student.
  • Yulia Shishko, 2nd year master’s student.
  • Dmitry Khanin, 2nd year student.

Scholarship holders will receive 25,000 roubles monthly. For the next year, Tinkoff will provide them with mentoring support, helping them to take the first steps in their careers. Once they graduate from the university, the participants will receive a job offer from the company.

Students from 30 countries studying at Russian universities took part in the competition. According to the organisers, VSU together with the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow State University, ITMO University, Financial University, St. Petersburg State University, and Innopolis University was among the universities that submitted the largest number of applications, 57% of the total.

During the qualifying stages, which included an exam, portfolio assessment, and interviews with experts, the winners from VSU received the highest possible number of points. As for the applications for all three tracks, the following information was taken into account: outstanding academic performance, participation in national and international academic competitions, top places in programming championships and hackathons, publications and participation in scientific conferences, working on one’s own development projects, and other initiatives. The board of the scholarship programme included Tinkoff’s top managers, well-known IT entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of scientific, educational, and public organisations.

The Tinkoff scholarship programme is annual and is aimed at supporting students of Russian universities. The competition focuses on attracting young specialists to Russia and on their development in Russian companies. Full-time students from bachelor’s, specialist’s, and master’s degree programmes of any Russian university can apply for the scholarship.
