On 1 September, VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky gave a lecture for first year students. The lecture was held in the assembly hall of the main building. It was also broadcast on VSU’s YouTube channel, so anyone could watch it.
The rector stressed that this year the university celebrates its 105th anniversary. He also talked about the number of admitted students and said that the life of first year students was going to change dramatically.
“Starting from this point, your life is going to change dramatically. Everything is going to be different: your daily routine, your psychoemotional states. You will have to get used to this. The university gives you a great freedom of choice, but with this freedom comes equally great responsibilities”, said Dmitry Endovitsky.
He also talked about the history of the university, its campus policies, the code of ethics, the rules and century-old traditions, as well as about the opportunities VSU provides its students with:
“It’s a privilege to be a VSU student. And you have to earn this privilege time and again”, said the rector.
The rector’s lecture was a part of the national educational event “Share your Knowledge”. It is organised by the Russian Foundation “Znaniye” and the Ministry of Enlightenment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
To celebrate the beginning of a new academic year, the employees of VSU Botanical Garden delivered flowers, which were laid at the commemorative plaque dedicated to the founders of the university. Other faculties also held their celebrations.
