A lecturer from the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology participates in the International Educational Forum “Plasticity of a child’s brain”

Between 9 and 10 September, senior lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Pedagogical Psychology of the VSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology Olga Ivanova took part in the International Educational Forum “Plasticity of a child’s brain” in St. Petersburg.

The forum was dedicated to the memory of children’s neurologist Oleg Efimov. The goal of the annual event is to unite the efforts of scientists, doctors, teachers, and parents in order to improve the life quality of children with special needs related to the development of the nervous system.

The lecture covered the following topics:

  • The unique capabilities of a child’s brain.
  • Drug-free methods of normalising the operation of the nervous system.
  • Promising research in the field of child neurology, biology, psychology, and pedagogy.

Among the speakers were psychophysiologist, head of the Prognoz clinic and the Logoprognoz centre, professor of the department of developmental psychology and family pedagogy of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia Victoria Efimova, DSc in Psychology, general director of the centre for the development of child habilitation Logoped-Profi, creator of the information educational portal Logo-Expert Olesya Zhukova, international expert on early development issues, director of the autonomous non-commercial organisation for further professional education St. Petersburg Institute for Early Intervention Larisa Samarina, professor and neuropsychologist Tatyana Vizel, DSc in Pscyhology, head of the Nash Solnechny Mir centre, member of Moscow City Association for Parents of Disabled Children and the Expert Council of the Ministry of Enlightenment of the Russian Federation on issues of comprehensive support for children with autism spectrum condition Igor Spitsberg, neuropsychologist, head of the Centre for Practical Neuropsychology, and neuropsychologist at the Burdenko National Medical Research Centre for Neurosurgery Maria Kamenetskaya.

“The forum is a significant event in the field of childhood research and the search for modern practices in treatment, training, and adaptation that really work. I received loads of useful information regarding the research topic that I’ve been studying for almost 10 years, that is the support and long-term consequences of early hospitalisation of preterm infants,” commented Olga Ivanova.
