On October 5, the 6th International Conference “Actual Problems of Screen and Interactive Media” was held. It was timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the High School of Television of Moscow State University. Voronezh State University co-organised the event. The panel “Linguistic Aspect of Modern Media Discourse” was held at the Faculty of Philology of VSU.
The conference organising committee included Alla Shesterina, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor at the High School of Television of MSU, Professor at the Faculty of Philology of VSU, and Maryana Rosenfeld, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philology of VSU.
Among the discussed topics were the dynamics of ethnic stereotypes in modern media discourse, the role of the proper name in media, language and style of new media, speech etiquette in social networks, and destructiveness as a norm of modern media discourse. The panel was attended by scholars from Voronezh State University, St. Petersburg State University, Russian State University for the Humanities, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Minsk State Linguistic University, and other universities in Russia and abroad. More than 100 presentations were made at the conference.
