Between 9 and 13 October, the 73rd International Conference on Nuclear Physics dedicated to fundamental issues and applications was held in Sarov, a town in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The event was organised by the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre, All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics.
Among the speakers of the conference were staff members from the Department of Nuclear Physics of VSU: Professor Stanislav Kadmensky, Associate Professors Dmitry Lyubashevsky and Viktor Vakhtel, Head of the Department Larisa Titova, and graduate students Mikhail Andreev and Daniil Kostomakha.
“The organisers of the conference managed to gather participants from the main nuclear centres of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Korea, and other countries. The conference was held both in in-person and remote formats. As a result, the participants had a chance to listen to more than 150 reports within different sessions. Reports by the representatives from our department were given at the plenary session and at the sessions “Experimental and theoretical studies of nuclear reactions” and “Radiation research and nuclear physics technologies”. At the final plenary session, the Conference Programme Committee praised the achievements of physicists from Voronezh State University and the school of Professor Stanislav Kadmensky in the field of nuclear fission physics,” said Larisa Titova.
The conference revealed which areas of research in nuclear physics are relevant at the moment and which experimental facilities are being prepared to be launched. This event also provided an opportunity to learn from people who are engaged in similar research topics and are interested in cooperation.
