Between 16 and 29 November, fourth year students of the Faculty of Chemistry visited AO Voronezhsintezkauchuk, a modern hi-tech production enterprise incorporated in SIBUR Holding. The enterprise manufactures synthetic rubbers and thermoelastoplasts (SBS).
Before the tour, the students learned about the safety procedures and were given special protective clothes and personal protective equipment. The main part of the tour was at the Elastomery research centre, whose employees develop new brands of rubber, latex, and thermoelastoplasts, and introduce them in the manufacturing process. The students also visited laboratories of the development centre, analytical laboratories with modern physical and chemical equipment, and laboratories for physical and mechanical testing of thermoelastoplasts and rubbers, and saw samples of products with special consumer properties.
Among the staff member guiding the students were VSU graduates: both recent and more experienced employees of the Elastomery centre. During the tour, the students could also meet VSU graduates who made good careers at the enterprise. They asked questions about the employment prospects at Sibur, the working conditions, internships, and onsite training.
