On 29 November, the Faculty of International Relations of VSU held an online lecture by a well-known Russian diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Yan Burlyai.
Yan Burlyai used to be an ambassador of the Russian Federation in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Therefore, in his lecture he talked about various aspects of relationships between Russia and these countries.
He reviewed the current political and economic situation in Latin America and analysed the prospects of a partnership with Russia. Talking about the presidential election in Argentina, the expert said that one should not make hasty conclusions regarding the possible changes in the state policy and pointed out the fact that the elite circles in Latin America are very pragmatic.
The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, DSc in Economics, Professor Oleg Belenov and Head of the Department of International Relations and Global Politics Professor Alexander Slinko.
After the speech, students had a chance to ask questions to the speaker.
