Between 28 and 30 November, the 3rd Congress of Young Scientists was held in Sochi. The congress was the main event of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia announced by a Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in order to promote the role of science and technology in the development of our country and society. The congress presented a platform for a dialogue between cutting-edge and basic research, public authorities and the real economy, and determined the main vectors of scientific and technological development of Russia.
Voronezh State University was represented by Dmitry Vladimirov, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, Dmitry Zhukalin, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics, and Maxim Gladkikh, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics. Among the participants of the congress there was also Konstantin Titov, Associate Professor at the Department of Radiophysics and a Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Scholars and Specialists of Voronezh Region.
“It’s the second time I’ve got the chance to take part in the most important annual event for young scientists. Once again I was amazed by the scale of the congress and an opportunity to communicate directly with representatives of the government and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. An important feature of the event is an opportunity to build a network of horizontal and vertical contacts and implement new ideas straight away, as well as the fact that it provides state support for scientific organisations, businesses, young researchers, and student research societies. Although the first time was more impressive, this time I managed to build new contacts and develop a lot of plans. Next year, the Voronezh Region is going to be even better represented at the 4th Congress of Young Scientists. This year, between 15 and 16 December, Voronezh State University is holding the 2nd Congress of Young Scientists of the Voronezh Region. Taking part in the national congress helps to keep up to date and make the regional events of this kind even better”, said Konstantin Titov.
The delegation of the Russian Foundation “Znaniye” at the congress also included Daria Galtsova, a lecturer at the Faculty of Philology of VSU, Alexander Dunilin, a first year PhD student from the Faculty of Pharmaceutics, and Irina Zotova, a master’s degree student from the Faculty of Chemistry. Maria Kokotkina, a fourth year student from the Faculty of Mathematics, also took part in the event.
“It was a grand event with young scientists coming from all over the country. We had a unique opportunity to exchange experience with both young and experienced researchers. The organisers of the congress arranged for a large-scale presentation of the latest advances of the country’s regions in science and technology, which was held in the park of science and arts “Sirius”. I am very grateful to the organisers of the congress and the administration of our university, including VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky, First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Elena Chupandina, and my research advisor Olga Trineeva for their help and support”, said Alexander Dunilin.
