On 28 December, the annual “Let's get acquainted!” concert of students from the pre-university training programme of the International Education Institute was held in the VSU Concert Hall. As usual, the organisers held the event on New Year's Eve, however, its format was not traditional.
The concert started with a parade of standard-bearers from each country of the students studying at the International Education Institute. It is worth mentioning that the geography of students in 2023 was quite broad. The audience were really excited to greet the procession of national flags from 27 countries which created a feeling of unity. It reminded the parade at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Natalia Vella, Deputy Director of the International Education Institute, welcomed the audience and congratulated it with the upcoming New Year.
The festive programme was presented on a large stage and consisted of speeches by students of the pre-university training programme and their lecturers. Senior international students also took part in the event and presented their artistic performances. The audience was impressed by a spectacular wedding ceremony of the Republic of Chad and a gentle oriental dance. The event easily combined national performances, informative quizzes, and Russian poems. The concert was full of funny moments. It showcased the talents of the international students and created a festive atmosphere.
The event concluded with a New Year's song performed by all the participants of the concert, which charged everyone with positive emotions for 2024.
