On 13 January, a presentation of the Voronezh Region took place at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, Moscow, as part of the exhibition and forum “Russia”. The delegation of Voronezh State University included the Rector of the university, Dmitry Endovitsky, and representatives of the student associations: KSK, PIXEL, SSC “Khitschnye Bobry”, VSU student teams, VSU Patriotic Club VSU “Vysota 155”, and OSO.

The programme of the exhibition and forum turned out to be very diverse. During the trip, VSU students visited various pavilions at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, saw the display of the Voronezh Region and other regions of our country, and also took part in a cooking master class which used produce from the Voronezh Region.

“The international exhibition and forum “Russia” gave the opportunity to learn more about the most important achievements of the country in various industries, about the peculiarities and traditions of other regions of Russia, as well as to experience the unforgettable atmosphere of the event. The exhibition presented innovative projects that contribute to strengthening the internal ties within our vast country, as well as support the development of various fields of public life. Visiting the exhibition “Russia” provided representatives of student organisations with a unique opportunity: they were able to learn more about advanced technologies and new trends in various fields, which inspired them to develop their own projects. I want to thank Dmitry Endovitsky and the Government of the region for the unique opportunity to visit the exhibition and assess current trends, innovations, and development prospects of different regions in our country,” said Matvey Mikhalsky, Chairman of the VSU Joint Students' Board.

The pavilion “Our Culture” presented the performance “Thumbelina” by the Volkhovsky Voronezh Puppet Theatre. There was also a presentation of exhibition projects of the Kramskoy Voronezh Regional Art Museum. In the large hall of the “Museum of Cinema”, the participants of the student associations were presented with an animated film produced by the animation studio “Voronezh”, “Hansel, Gretel, and the Agency of Magic”.

“During the trip, we learned a lot of new secrets and stories from all over Russia. I think every resident of our country should visit this exhibition which helps us to discover more about our homeland. The programme of the day dedicated to the Voronezh Region was very eventful. Most of all, I remembered the performance by our Puppet Theatre “Thumbelina”,” said Irina Ryabykh, Chairperson of the VSU SSC “Khitschnye Bobry”. Many educational events were held as part of the educational programme at the exhibition and forum “Russia”, which was organised in partnership with the Russian Society “Knowledge”. The lectures about the Voronezh Region were dedicated to unique historical sights and modern scientific achievements of the region. Alexander Dudin, senior researcher and the main guardian of the nature reserve “Kostyonki”, gave the lecture “The heritage of world archaeology: a gem of the Paleolithic, Kostyonki”:

“Today, I talked about a unique museum. A huge number of Paleolithic dwelling sites are concentrated in this small area. People of the Late Paleolithic period lived there. These dwelling sites can be used to track the settlement of Europe by representatives of the human race of our time, how they survived and adapted, including under difficult climatic conditions. This is important both for science and for the education of young people When we talk about that time, we try to teach young people to learn more about themselves by learning about their past. After all, when you understand where you come from, you understand your cultural level and your place on the planet. I am sure that it is important for young people to think about history, to understand where you live and who you are,” said the lecturer.

Within the framework of the exhibition and forum, the pavilion with the display of the “Regions of Russia” housed a presentation of the scientific achievements of the leading universities of the region , “Intellectual Voronezh”. The presentation was moderated by VSU Rector, Dmitry Endovitsky. The official meeting was attended by Dmitry Proskurin, Rector of Voronezh State Technical University, Mikhail Drapalyuk, Rector of Morozov Voronezh State Forest Engineering University, Alexander Agibalov, Rector of Peter I Voronezh State Agricultural University, and Olga Korneeva, Iterim Rector of Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies.

During the presentation, the VSU Rector noted that Voronezh is a unique region because approximately 15% of the population of the millionaire city are students. There is no other city in Russia with such a concentration of students. That is why Voronezh is called the student capital of Russia. Universities in the Voronezh Region are the flagships of higher education. These are universities that are highly valued both in Russia and abroad.

Dmitry Endovitsky paid special attention to the scientific achievements of Voronezh State University:

“Most recently, VSU received the status of the Advanced Engineering School for Electronics, Infocommunications, and Radio Communication. In the field of microelectronics, we are working together with our colleagues from Voronezh State Technical University and Voronezh State Forestry University. In addition, a laboratory of gallium nitride and silicon electronics has been opened in VSU. The university also has a centre for mechatronics and robotics “INTEKHROS”, which is the leader in power robotics in Russia. Our synchrotron research centre uses ultra-soft X-ray spectrum to launch unique equipment, which cannot be found anywhere in Russia.

At the end of the presentation, the rector of VSU invited all participants of the event to see with their own eyes the unique scientific achievements of the university.
