On January 18, 2024, Vasily Borisov, DSc in Technical Sciences, Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of radio engineering and electronics, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor Honoris Causa of VSU, and its alumnus, celebrated his 85th birthday.
Dmitry Endovitsky, Rector of the university, congratulated Vasily Borisov on his 85th birthday on behalf of the VSU staff:

Currently, Vasily Borisov is the Chief Research Officer of AO Concern Sozvezdie, the largest regional radioelectronic enterprise. Before that, he was the head of the Voronezh Research Institute of Communications for more than 20 years.
Vasily Borisov graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Voronezh State University in 1962, and started his career at the Voronezh Research Institute of Communications the same year. The Doctor Honoris Causa of Voronezh State University worked his way up from an ordinary engineer to become the General Director.
He founded a new direction in the theory of noise immunity based on the probabilistic-temporal model of radio communication systems functioning under the conditions of radioelectronic warfare. He developed the theory and methods of designing radioelectronic systems capable of operating in extreme conditions, military and space communications systems. In 1983, Vasily Borisov was awarded the USSR State Prize, and in 2000 he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation.
