On January 20, 2024, diplomas were awarded to the graduates of the master’s degree programme “Pedagogical Education” of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology. Eighteen people completed the master’s degree programme “Teaching foreign languages with the help of online technologies in schools and further education”. Twelve of them graduated with honours degrees.

The graduation ceremony was opened by Ksenia Shilikhina, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. She congratulated the graduates on the completion of their master’s studies, emphasised the importance of the chosen profession in modern society, and noted that professional teaching requires full commitment, love for one’s work, and students. Ksenia Shilikhina expressed her confidence that the knowledge and professional competences acquired would help the graduates to succeed in their profession and wished them further professional development.

Marina Shcherbakova, Associate Professor, coordinator of the master’s degree programme, gave warm wishes and farewell remarks:

“Obtaining a master’s degree is a good opportunity to increase your competitiveness on the labour market, no matter what professional field you start working in. In general, studying at the master’s degree programme helped you to develop the necessary skills for further work as teachers and building a career.”

Marina Shcherbakova wished the graduates good luck on their individual life path, difficult, but definitely fascinating and interesting. The graduates, in turn, sincerely thanked the lecturers for their work, professionalism, and patience:

“Two and a half years of master’s studies have slipped away as an instant. We can confidently say that our faculty is a great start for those who want to do what they love! We have learnt a lot, deepened our knowledge of English, and the methodology of its teaching, mastered all the peculiarities and nuances of pedagogical activity, which will undoubtedly help us in our future work. Our university has helped us to develop in creative, pedagogical, and scientific directions. I am particularly grateful to our lecturers, who have been wise mentors throughout our university path. Thank you for always believing in us, transferring knowledge, and helping us to develop. Under your guidance, we went through all the difficulties, overcame them, and laid the foundation for further achievements,” shared Elena Belyaeva, the leader of the group.

Following tradition, the students switched the tassels of their academic caps from right to left, as only master’s graduates have the right to wear them on that side.
