On 29 February, a meeting between VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky and a delegation from China was held in the White Hall of the main building. Our university was visited by the General Director of the Russian-Chinese Union Huang Tao and his assistant Olga Simengor. At the official meeting VSU was represented by Elena Chupandina, First Vice-Rector – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Vladimir Rodionov, Director of the International Education Institute.
The purpose of the visit was to negotiate regarding cooperation with the Russian-Chinese Union, Chinese higher educational institutions, as well as on the implementation of the VSU’s educational programme in China.
“Voronezh State University has been collaborating with the People’s Republic of China for a long time. VSU’s representative office has been operating in Beijing since 2002. We have an agreement to provide monthly courses in communications for all provinces of China. We also work closely with the Communist University of the Toilers of China and with the Shanghai International Studies University and we have opened Centres for Russian Language and Culture. It should be noted that our Botanical Garden collaborates with one of the centres in the Chinese province and exchanges plants and trees with them. This project is supported by grants from the Government of China,” said Dmitry Endovitsky.
