On 6 March, students and staff of the International Education Institute took part in the food event “Pieces of the World” at the Peter I Voronezh State Agricultural University.
At the beginning the guests were welcomed with aromatic national dishes which they could also try. Students from around the world were dressed in colourful national costumes and were happy to share their cooking secrets. The International Education Institute was represented by students from 4 countries. Amara Huda made Moroccan pancakes with chocolate. Silva Melo Eduardo Roberto offered the guests traditional Brazilian tapioca and cheese buns. Usman Hussein Ali talked about traditional dishes of the Republic of Chad.
The tasting was followed by a spectacular concert. The programme included performances by a violinist from Angola and a pianist from Cameroon. There were also lyrical songs from China and Sri Lanka as well as poems about spring and love. Kamara Sekou, Kone Sese David, and Conde Mohamed from Guinea performed an exciting national rap.
After the concert, the most active participants were presented with letters of gratitude to the loud applause of the audience.
“Studying other cultures provides an invaluable experience that brings people together. Such events help to learn from each other and appreciate the diversity of the world. We want to thank the organisers for the unforgettable warm and friendly atmosphere!” said Natalia Vella, Deputy Director of International Education Institute off VSU, after the event.
Also, the Armenian Student Association was recently opened at VSU, whose representatives took part in this event.
“Such events really bring together people of different nationalities and develop international relations. I talked with people from different countries and learned a lot of new and interesting things. After that I decided to visit some of the countries represented at the meeting. The event was well organised, and for this we are thankful to the International Friendship Club of Voronezh State Agricultural University,” said Razmik Vardanyan, Head of the Armenian student association of VSU.
The Armenian association plans to develop international relations at the university, bringing students of different nationalities together and making university studies more interesting together with the Institute of International Relations of VSU, Buddy club, Joint Students' Board, and other organisations willing to support them.
