On 13 April, an award ceremony for the winners of the International Competition “Best Article by a Young Political Scientist 2023” was held in Moscow. Fourth year political science students of the Faculty of History of Voronezh State University Tatyana Panchukova (research advisor Associate Professor Elena Zyuzina), Dmitry Zaviryukhin (research advisor Associate Professor Denis Sosunov), and Liliya Tarabrina (research advisor Associate Professor Alexander Romanovsky) became the winners of this prestigious International scientific competition.

The main goal of the competition is to discover and encourage the most talented, original, and promising young researchers in the field of political science. The competition was organised by the “Russian Political Science” magazine and the ANO Laboratory of Humanities Projects.

“Such competitions let you feel like a scientist while you are still a student. They demonstrated an excellent level of professional training and their potential as researchers was highly assessed. I would like to thank the participants for their enthusiasm and great research work,” said Denis Sosunov, Head of the Department of Sociology and Politology of VSU.

In 2023, young political scientists from 8 countries (Russia, Belarus, Iraq, Yemen, China, Colombia, Syria, and Romania) and more than two dozen universities and educational and scientific centres took part in the competition. In total, the organisers received about a hundred articles. Every year the competition attracts more interest and gains more significance in the academic community.

“Receiving the winner’s certificate from such a prominent scientific journal means a lot. Getting feedback from experts of the leading Russian universities is priceless. The competition provides good experience for future work and the opportunity to publish your article in a journal from the State Commission’s list,” said Dmitry Zaviryukhin.

The competition experts were political scientists from Moscow State University, People’s Friendship University of Russia, Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, and others, as well as leading specialists from scientific centres of Belarus, Serbia, India, and Japan.

The award ceremony was held in the Turgenev library. Partners and experts presented the winners with diplomas and special competition figurines.
